Error During Installation of Garmin Express on Windows 7

While Installing Garmin Express on Windows 7, you might encounter the following error

Service 'Garmin Core Update Service' (Garmin Core Update Service) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

This error occurs due to the Garmin Core Update Service not having sufficient privileges to start. In order to fix the issue, after getting the above error message, click on OK and then click on "Failed? Retry".

Once the installation re-runs, perform the following steps immediately when you see a message that the installation wizard is trying to start the Core Update Service. You need to do this before getting the Failed to Start error.

1. Go to Start and search for services.msc
2. Look for Garmin Core Update Service under the list of services and then right click on it and select properties
3. On the Log On tab, click on "This Account", specify the account name as NTAuthority\Local Service, leave the Password field blank and then click Apply.
4. Manually start the service by going back to the general tab and trying to start the service.
5. The Garmin Express Installation would automatically progress and the installation would be a success.
